Hello New Readers and Loyal Followers!
I am an aspiring historian and lover of Ancient Rome in the first century! I began a blog on Tumblr in June of 2016 and have been writing since; gaining over 1000 loyal followers and many friends along the way. My Tumblr will be updated far more continuously than this blog which will serve a slightly different purpose. Here I will be writing more in-depth pieces about various historical events and people. So, please follow as to get all of the updates and historical knowledge!
In the beginning of this year, I announced I was going to do a comparison between Julius Caesar and Napoleon. I am going to put those posts here along with my notable posts and pieces from my Tumblr.
In the last month, the comparison project has been formulating in my head at and I think I have come up with some ideas of how to go about the task.
First, I need to find categories of comparison and a few I am thinking of are, Personal Details, Rule, Army Organisation and Tactics, Personal Life and Ultimate Defeat. I am unsure how many battles I should compare as they had many campaigns. Also, which sources to use. I know Caesar wrote about his campaigns, but I am unsure where to begin with Napoleon.
So, those are my current thoughts on what segments I should compare.
I also am going to use this blog to write some advise for those who are going to write Historical Fiction. Because I have come to understand some things of importance while writing my own. It was thanks to Ancient Rome that I finally found the setting for a Historical Fantasy series that I have been continually working on since 2009.
I am also hoping to write more about the Year of Four Emperors, the civil war in Rome that occurred after Nero’s Death in 68 AD/CE. I can’t help it, I’m obsessed with that year. It’s really my current favourite war. Yeah, I have favourite wars. I want to write more about Galba, Otho and Vitellius so badly!
And for those who didn’t notice! I got my own domain name on my Tumblr! I am so happy!!
Anyhow, that’s all for this post, but there will be more to come!
